With this being Memorial Day, I have been thinking a lot about our Military men and women. My Grandpa Jensen served in the Army. My Grandpa Hale served in the Air Force. I don't know a lot about Grandpa J's service, but I know a bit about Grandpa H. When I was in 6th grade, Grandpa Hale came to school to share some of his experiences with our 6th grade class. He brought some of the mementos and things that he had accumulated through the years. I will never forget one of the (for lack of a better word) swords he brought. It was amazing. I can't describe it too well...it was very intricate. It had things coming out of it in different directions, and was terrifying. For years I wondered if I had embellished this memory of the weapon...it seemed like too fantastic a creation to be real. I spoke with Jennifer about it a year or two ago and she corroborated my story. Apparently I didn't exaggerate the sword. I can't imagine ever having it used though!
Work today went pretty quickly once it got started. I arrived at 4:55 am, and paged a manager to clock me in. I am not yet in the computer, so I have to have a manager clock me in for the first 3 weeks. We are now in week 2. After at least 6 more pages, I was still waiting for the manager. 35 minutes after I was supposed to start! I was livid. I called Heath in my fury...forgetting that it was 5:30 am. I told him I was about to quit and just leave. I found it very disrespectful to keep me waiting for over half an hour before I could start working! I finally hunted down a manager and got clocked in. Then I was on my own for the next 4 1/2 hours. I did a lot of work today!
I spoke to my supervisor when she finally arrived to work (she came in late...and left 3 hours early!), and I told her I needed to speak with her. I told her what had happened that morning, and explained that if I ever have to wait more than 10-15 minutes again, I was just leaving and I would not be coming back. She spoke to the store manager and everything got worked out.
I think I will always be exhausted when I get done with work. I do a fairly demanding physical job there, and I like that. It makes me feel like I am doing something good for my body. In fact, yesterday I had been lounging around the house for a while and I got really restless. I never get that way! I suppose that is my body's way of telling me that I need the exercise!
Today I will spend the rest of the day with Heath and the girls, then back to the grindstone at 5 am tomorrow! Happy Memorial Day...and my thoughts and prayers are with all of our Armed Forces, and most especially with my two wonderful Grandfathers who both served their country and fought for my freedom before there ever was a me.

I would be beyond pissed. Did they pay you for the time you sat around waiting?
