Heath and I got the girls in bed a bit early last night—and I got a much needed early bedtime too. Good thing I went to bed about an hour earlier than usual, because we had severe thunderstorms that lasted 3 hours in the middle of the night.
What did that mean for me? Three hours of being awake with two terrified girls. About halfway through, the rain died down and the thunder moved away. I had the girls convinced they would be fine if I went back to bed in my own room (we were snuggling in Keali’s bed—we DO NOT all fit in there anymore!). They agreed I could go, but I had to promise to come back if the “loud thunder” came back. I stood up to go.
CRACK!!
Loud thunder.
Kalyn said, “There it is again!”—clearly happy about it.
I said, it will go away…see…it is gone. I got to the door.
CRACK!! BOOM!!
I slowly turned around and sulked back to the over-stuffed twin sized bed…accepting my fate as both girls squealed, “Its here! You promised to stay with us!”
So…three hours after it started, both girls were finally asleep and I wandered back to my room.
I’m sleepy today! The girls are great though. Heath asked how they slept last night and they said they had so much fun snuggling Mommy in the middle of the night. Sweeties.
