After a long day of sitting in hard chairs and standing a lot yesterday, I wasn’t feeling so well this morning.  I restricted myself to lying down all day to relieve some pressure and discomfort and discovered one important thing.

Bed rest will kill me.

I had better not have to go on bed rest at any point in my life because I just can’t handle it.  Now—to be brutally honest about myself…I am a lazy person.  But not so lazy apparently that I can just lie around all day.  I was going crazy after only 30 minutes!!  I have managed to rest most of the day though and I do feel much better.

Yesterday I had to go to work for more GHD training.  It wasn’t that bad.  When I came home we immediately left for a baptism Heath was conducting.  I was recruited to play the piano (I don’t play well when people sing along, so I hate doing this).  The girls were anything BUT quiet and reverent during the whole service.

At one point, Keali began singing, “I have a little turtle.  His name is Tiny Tim,” (a really cute song, but not the best for a baptism) in her regular singing voice.  I asked her to hush and be quiet.  She smiled at me and began singing again in just the same manner.  I switched tactics.  I said, “Let’s see how reverent Keali can be!”  She immediately folded her arms…shut her eyes tightly…and began stage whispering, “I have a little turtle.  His name is Tiny Tim…”  I almost laughed out loud.  She is so precious!

Kalyn began absentmindedly scratching a mosquito bite on her leg.  Eventually she looked down, then immediately back up at me with terror in her eyes.  “I’m getting a rash!  Just like Klarice!  I’m getting a rash!”  I don’t know what she was talking about but apparently she is horrified at the thought of having a rash.  I asked her to hush, but she leapt up and ran to me (mind you in the middle of the talk on Confirmation and the Gift of the Holy Ghost) with panic in her voice saying (in her defense, she was trying to be quiet, but wasn’t successful), “Klarice had a rash and now I am getting it.”  Then she said something about it being Heath’s fault.  Anyway.  Her panic and terror was so real—about a mosquito bite that I began that silent laughter that rocks and shakes your body—and you have no control over it.

My reaction didn’t solve the problem.  She began saying, “It isn’t funny!  Rashes aren’t funny!”  No.  They are not.  But her reaction certainly was.  After a while I got control of myself and we didn’t have any more incidents.  It was fun though!

I love both stories about the girls. I busted up about Kalyn's reaction to her "rash". Kids are so funny! Thanks for sharing.
