Last night Heath took me on a date! We did dinner and a movie. I’m really picky about what I eat right now, but IHOP was the best thing! After we ate, I was sitting up front waiting for Heath to pay. There was a little boy playing on the bench next to me—maybe 5 years old. I took out my iPhone to look up something on the internet.
The boy was VERY interested in what I was doing. By the time his Mom looked over at him (she was in the payment line too), he had his arm around my neck and was literally hanging on me to get a good look at the phone. I let him play a couple games while we waited. Everyone thought it was really cute—and it was! He was a sweetie! His Grandfather tried to get him to leave, but he didn’t want to!
Today has been delightful so far.
This morning, the girls and I woke up extra early (at least for a Saturday) and went to the store to buy things for Daddy’s special Day Before Father’s Day breakfast (I won’t be making breakfast tomorrow…we already wake up at the crack of dawn to get ready for church). It was a bit of a struggle to get them ready and out the door, but we made it.
Heath’s favorite breakfast includes:
Biscuits (homemade)
Sausage Gravy
Eggs over easy
Bacon
Halfway through the shopping trip I was already out of energy so I broke down and just bought some Mary B’s frozen biscuits. I’ve heard they are pretty good and I just knew I wouldn’t be able to make any from scratch without energy.
We came home and the girls woke Heath up, then we called his parents to invite them to breakfast too. They feed us all the time so every once in a while we like to reciprocate!
I got the biscuits in the oven, cooked the bacon and sausage, made the gravy (turned out the BEST I ever made, though it was a bit salty. I need to remember that not everyone is like me—I have hard time tasting salt right now so I tend to add enough until I do. Unfortunately, that is WAY TOO MUCH for everyone else!) Did up the eggs and we ate. Its wasn’t too shabby if I do say so myself.
Heath and I, with the help of his Mom, cleaned up the kitchen. Mamaw & Papaw left, and I went back to bed while Heath bathed the girls. He let me get my nap out—2 hours! It was heavenly once I finally got my hips to stop hurting.
Since then we have been doing some straightening/organization to prepare for the babies…I know we are still months away, but every week I am able to do less and less, and I don’t want Heath to get stuck with everything—he is doing so much more than me now anyway.
We have the Missionaries coming for dinner tonight and the girls are excited. I’m excited for next weekend. I’m taking Friday off work, going to the doctor to hear the babies heartbeats again, then we are headed to Stoneridge Baptist Camp for our Welch Family Reunion. I think everyone is supposed to be there this year—even the illusive Ronnie Jr. At least that is the latest I’ve heard on the subject.
Funny thing my girls do.
When we are out walking around, both will randomly start waddling and saying, “waddle, waddle, waddle.” I can’t prove it…but I think their Daddy is telling them to!

Blake actually prefers biscuit from a can over my homemade. :(
You are such a sweet wife to make his favorite breakfast even when you don't feel well!
I hope things are going better though. I'm glad the hymns helped. That's funny that those are some of your favorites, too. Kindred spirits, maybe?
