I can’t wait until these babies start moving around a bit more.  A baby’s movement to me is very reassuring.  I have so much anxiety about my condition right now and the conditions of the babies—I need some reassurance.

Today in Sacrament Meeting, Heath said the girls were almost perfect.  I wasn’t there—and I am beginning to think that I am a trigger to their misbehavior.  They both seem to do so much better for Heath than they do for me.  Oh well.  He always has been much more patient than I am anyway so I am sure they pick up on that and respond in kind.

Speaking of the girls—I have the sweetest, prettiest daughters.  I was looking at them today and was completely overwhelmed with the knowledge that I am part of the reason they exist, and that I am responsible for teaching them.  Kalyn has a love of music and all things related to it—singing, dance, etc.  She began to learn “A Child’s Prayer” in church today and was singing it over and over to my iPod this afternoon.  She has a beautiful voice and is angelic when she sings.  Keali has a playful sense of humor.  She finds enjoyment in making all of us laugh and acting goofy for us.  I feel as though I was a bit like that as a child too, but I eventually became so self-conscious, I wouldn’t allow myself to be myself anymore for fear of ridicule.  I hope neither of my children ever feels that way.  They are perfect the way the are—and I love them so much!

I’ve been looking through pictures of the girls when they were babies.  Here are some of my favorites.

Kalyn was the funkiest looking newborn—ever!  I don’t have any problem saying this online—because I don’t plan on keeping it from her when she is older.  She was fugly.  She had a super-cone head, gigantic cheeks, and absolutely no chin (thanks to Pierre Robin Syndrome).  When she would sleep, she would often look like Jaba the Hut.  It was so funny!  She was still the most beautiful baby I had ever seen!  Here she is at about 1 month old.2069

I love pictures of Heath holding the girls.  He is this gigantic man—holding a tiny baby.  I love that!  This is Kalyn and  a very tired Heath.2071

This is one of the funniest pictures we have ever taken.  It was at Kalyn’s blessing.  Jessica was holding her when she decided to hmhm.  Do her business.  Just as the camera took the picture.  Jessica was horrified that she would do that while she was holding her.  It was hilarious!2279

This was one of the pictures I took of Kalyn for Valentines Day.  She was about three weeks old.2289

Of course—Heath loves Superman.  I found him on the computer one day making these.2881

Up…Up…And Away!2882

Yeah—that’s a baby strapped in there.  I was always scared she couldn’t breath in that thing, but she did okay.  Wow!  She was little.3242

I love my baby!2170

Here are Kalyn and Keali shortly after Keali could take real baths.  Kalyn as always asking to take a bath with her.  It was a bit scary for me…Keali was as slippery as a fish!3789

Within a few days of being born, Keali turned bright yellow.  I thought she was a bad color, but I wasn’t sure and didn’t trust my Mommy instincts.  She wouldn’t eat, so we had to use a syringe to get milk into her.  Those lines on her face are from when she scratched herself at about 1 hour old.002

Here Keali is in the hospital on her Daddy’s shoulder.  By the time Keali was officially diagnosed with jaundice, her levels were only a couple points from being brain-damaging.  She was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.  I was in tears the whole time because I had “failed” as a mother.  Those hormones after delivery are not merciful to a new Mommy! Isn’t she beautiful!  Keali was born beautiful.  While Kalyn was puffy and cone-shaped, Keali was perfect in every way.  She had no cone, and no Pierre Robin Syndrome—so her face looked correct.  I was instantly amazed by how beautiful she was.  Not taking anything away from Kalyn—who was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen—Keali was also the most beautiful baby I had ever seen.026

Look how tired I am!  I can only imagine what I will look like a day or two after having twins!105

Kalyn was instantly smitten with her little sister.  We made one mistake in the beginning though.  We sent Kalyn to stay with her grandparents for a week after Keali was born.  We thought we were doing the right thing by letting her get spoiled while we settled into a routine.  NO!  When she returned, it was clear to Kalyn she had been removed and replaced.  She was so upset with us.  It took hours to calm her down.  We eventually fixed the problem, but we will never make that mistake again!218

Look at that cutie holding her baby sister!234

This is one of my favorite pictures of Keali as a newborn.  This was taken after her first at-home bath.  All her hair was standing on end.  She was soooo cute!  She was tired and angry after being subjected to a sink full of water….and horror of all horrors—soap!276

Andrea was a lifesaver after Keali was born.  She would stop by and visit us at least once a week.  She and the girls became very close (Kalyn adores her and so does Keali!), and we were able to really heal a relationship that hadn’t been good since we were children.  To this day, Andrea is one of my best friends, and I know I can trust her with anything—especially my kids!403

Me, holding my precious baby.  Still—extremely tired!529

Like I said before, my favorite pictures are the ones where Heath is with the girls.  They both look so much like him.  He often says that he makes pretty girls!  I have to agree!556586

I also love pictures of babies sleeping on their Daddy’s chests.  Again—big strong men with tiny helpless infants are adorable.626

And, I’ll leave you with a picture of my precious Kalyn.  She is just over two in this picture.  I love that color on her.
