Ahhhhh! T-ball season is OFFICIALLY over! We got to Kalyn’s tournament at 10:30 this morning and found out we had a buy into the second round! Yea! One game we didn’t have to play.
Then I saw who we were up against our first game. No—not that team I hate…the team that beat the team I hate in the last tournament. I don’t have any feelings of animosity towards them—but they are far and away the best t-ball team in our league. In all—our girls really held their own with them. That team has several power hitters and some really fast kids. They ended up winning.
My blood pressure got a bit high when the ball was hit to Kalyn. Kalyn is a top-notch stopper of the ball. Then she freezes. She was covering second. The ball came to her. The girl from 1st ran to second. We were all screaming “tag her!” Kalyn was frozen. Literally 6 inches from second base—just holding the ball. The girl kept running. The girl who hit the ball ran to second base. Again, we are all screaming, “TAG HER!!” Still frozen. Finally when the play legally couldn’t go any further, Kalyn threw the ball to the coach. Augh!! Really though—it was kind of cute. The funniest thing is that if the ball doesn’t come to Kalyn, she guards her base with her life!
So, we lost that game, but that was okay.
Then I saw who we were up again next. Yup. The blue team. The team I hate!! I found out that I wasn’t the only parent with severely harsh feelings towards this team. All the Mom’s were talking about how badly we wanted to beat them! And guess what?
WE DID!!!! Our girls played SO WELL! The parents were noticeably more excited about this than the girls, but that is okay too. Vengeance! We actually were the team to put the blue team out of the tournament!
Then we played our last game against the orange team. We have beaten the orange team before, but really—we are pretty evenly matched. We had a bad umpire who gave that team a couple of advantages, but I really wasn’t that upset that we ended up losing—it was HOT outside!
In the end, the Playtime Therapy Panthers (us) were fourth place. As with the last tournament, the placement didn’t matter—the awards did! The girls all got a medal and were all very proud of themselves. Kalyn said she would have preferred a trophy, but we explained that a medal was just as good as a trophy and she is okay with her ‘gold’ medal now.
Phew! It’s over!! Until next year. Ohhhhh. Next year.
Next year I will have two little girls in t-ball and two infants. How am I going to do this? I suppose I will need to rely heavily on family to help me out! That’s what I did this year!
