Happy Mother’s Day!

Church today was an adventure.  Lots of interesting things happened.

On the way to church, Heath spoke with the girls about reverence.  They both vowed to be reverent.  And they were—when Heath was around!  He says they did pretty well.

After the Sacrament, it was time for me to eat again, so I quietly excused myself and went to the foyer to eat my crunchy oatmeal granola bar.  Within 5 minutes, the following happened.  In this order.

I choked on my granola bar which started a chain reaction.  My eyes started to water because I couldn’t breath (and frankly, it hurt).  At the best of times I have a weak bladder (thank two previous pregnancies), so you can imagine what happened while I was coughing uncontrollably.  I went to the bathroom after getting some water, and immediately got a bloody nose after throwing up.  Only to me could this happen.

After a while, I rejoined Heath in Sacrament Meeting.  He leaned over to explain to me how one of the young women was acting during their special Mother’s Day musical number.  What would have been a humorous story was ruined by my husband’s bad breath.  I quickly asked him to pass me my purse—code for “I am about to give you gum or breath mints because you are killing me.”  He knew the code so he blew right on me.

I had no choice but to jump up and run to the bathroom again.  I made it to the bathroom, but not to the toilet.  That’s okay—the sink works just as well at a time like this.  So I proceed to empty my stomach.  Halfway through, the Bishop’s two year old daughter walks in, sees me, and starts screaming.  Then she ran out yelling for her Mommy.  It was one of the funniest things that has happened to me in a while!  It almost made the whole ‘sick experience’ worth it.  Haha!

By the end of that, I was starving again (always hungry…remember?).  I managed to make it through music time of Primary, but had to leave during Sharing Time to eat some more.  It was at this point I picked up a loaf of homemade bread my Mother in Law made for me, and my cinnamon rolls she made as a gift to all nursery mothers.  Yummy!  I didn’t want to eat it then though, so off the carbs went with me to teach my Primary class.

That was such a mistake.  All the kids wanted (thank goodness I only had three today) was to eat my bread!  Every few minutes one would say, “can we eat that as a snack?”  “Are you going to eat that yourself?”  “Did you bring us something to eat?”

By the end of class, my answer stopped being “You are so silly!” to “No!  That is mine to take home!”  Selfish, I know.

I picked Kalyn up from her class and she started in on the bread too!  With her, I can play a bit more though.  She asked if she could eat some on the way home.  I said, “No!  This is Mommy’s!”  She said, “Won’t you share?”—clearly aware that I was teasing.  I said that I didn’t know if I could.

One of the Ward busi-bodies overheard us and stated, “That isn’t very Mom-like of you!”  I don’t think she knew we were playing with each other.  I responded to her that this was homemade bread and I didn’t get it that often—still joking, but I think it was lost on her.  Oh well.

After church we went to Ronald and Judy’s to make some yummy split pea soup and homemade bread.  Heath made brownies too.  It was the perfect meal!  Afterwards, I took a 2 1/2 hour nap—thanks honey!

It has been a good day!

Happy Mother’s Day!!
