Yesterday was interesting. We started out like any other day...a bit lazy, even for a Saturday. Shockingly, The Work and the Glory I, II, and III were on one of the Encore movie channels so we watched those. I had already seen I and II, but III was new to me.
While cutting the peppers and onions to make fajitas for dinner, the power started to flicker. As soon as I finished, the power to the whole house just shut off. Turns out, most of Jonesboro lost power thanks to a major power grid malfunctioning. We were without power for only a couple hours at most, but were forced to utilize the old fashioned method of communication. Face to face. It was a fun change. LOL
We got some really promising news yesterday, but I will wait to share the details until it becomes a reality...I don't want to jinx it.
Keali has a full body rash in reaction to some unknown new substance. I think it may be the dryer sheets I bought. We will see. Last night around 10, Heath and I headed off to the store to pick up some benadryl for her. On the way home, the car overheated and we had to wake up his Dad to bring us some anti-freeze.
Not 1/8 of a mile later, it overheated again. We managed to get the car home, but I am not looking forward to having to get it fixed...or worse...having to get a new vehicle. What is it with moving and cars for us? When we moved back to Arkansas a couple years ago our car (my beloved Sonata) died one day after our triumphant return to the Natural State. I am still sad about the Sonata. It was a good car.
Finally, we all went to bed. Since we are living with Heath's parents, we are having to do some makeshift arrangements when it comes to sleeping. Kalyn insists on sleeping in the room Heath and I sleep in so we have a little green couch for her to pull out and sleep on. I was trying to fall asleep when I heard a bubble popping sound. I figured it was one of the cell phones (between Heath and I we currently have 5 active cell phones. Tomorrow it will only be 3). I hopped up to figure out which one it was.
Heath's work phone was shut off so I turned it on. Sure enough, the battery was dying. I thought I had figured out the problem. As I walked back to bed, I noticed that my phone (which was charging) had fallen down. I could see the cord hanging off the table. I reached down to pick up the phone and realized what had been making the sound all along. The phone was charging next to the computer. Kalyn's bed is next to the computer.
As I pulled my cell phone up, I realized that Kalyn had taken it, hidden under her blanket, and was currently playing games on it. In secret. It was so funny I couldn't help but laugh. I took the phone away and placed it next to my bed to subvert further covert operations.
My sleeping habits are being destroyed. I can't fall asleep easily anymore and I wake up early. I am averaging 5 hours a night. I am exhausted. Hopefully I will get so tired soon that I will get a good night's rest.
Happy Sunday everyone!
