I got all the laundry done yesterday!! This may not seem like such a big accomplishment, but I hate doing laundry so actually getting it all done is a big deal for me! It feels nice! Yesterday was an okay day. Heath went to work and I stayed home and played with the girls while doing the laundry. Then it happened.
I was picking up the living room when I saw it. A gigantic roach.
Now stop...I don't have roaches in my house. With all the moisture outside, this mamoth creature with an exoskeleton entered my house and climed the wall above the tv. I didn't panic. I ran to grab one of Heath's shoes (I never kill bugs with my own footwear). When I returned I swatted at this giant. And missed. Then I panicked.
It fell behind the tv stand and diappeared. I grabbed my computer chair, placed it in the middle of the room (away from all walls) and sat in wait. Kalyn asked what I was doing and I told her. She matter-of-factly told me that she would just go get a tissue to kill the bug. I was horrified at the idea, but so proud of her bravery. I told her a tissue wouldn't do it.
She then had a light bulb over the head moment and said she was going to get something to make a loud noise. The loud noise would scare the bug out of hiding. I don't think she believed me when I told her bugs don't have ears. Come to think of it...I am not sure I believe me. After about an hour, Kalyn came into the room and saw it on another wall that was out of my sight. Attempt number two.
I grabbed the shoe again and swatted. And missed. Again. I screamed a couple times as it fell behind the piano. I climed into my computer chair and didn't move again until Heath came home an hour later. After a while of Heath being home, Kalyn walked back to her bedroom and saw it crawling on the floor. She called Heath over and he dispatched of the two inch long monster. I could breath again. I hugged Kalyn over and over telling her how brave she is and I am so happy I have her to protect me from bugs.
Just before bed, I was on the computer when Kalyn spied a small dead beetle. Heath came over, picked it up and held it over our heads. I had more than reached my bug limit with the roach episode. PANIC! I squeeled and pushed his hand out of the way. You know what happened next. Yup. It fell and landed on me.
I am not sure where on me it landed because as I saw it fall I began screaming and jumping--tearing off my clothing as I ran to my bedroom in a hysterical fit. By the time Heath got to me (he had to pick up the bug and dispose of it first) I was on the bed sobbing and shaking. He laughed at me then realized that I wasn't faking. He apologized for his immature behavior, though reminded me that it was actually my fault. If I hadn't moved his hand the bug wouldn't have fallen. I said that if he hadn't held it over my head I would have had to move his hand.
Kalyn was right up on the bed with me stroking my face and telling me (in the most calm and soothing voice I have ever heard from her) that it would all be okay--Daddy was sorry and wouldn't do it again. After a while I calmed down and talked to Heath about it.
I don't like bugs.

Hahahahahaha.....I'm shaking in my chair! People are looking at me funny because I'm laughing so hard. Oh, and I don't really believe that you didn't panic the first time. I bet you did a little...

Thank-you for the great laugh! I hate cockaroaches, the big kind that fly and I hate big spiders. I too would have panicked if Reed had dangled either over my head.
