Well, along with being the best husband in the world, Heath is the best father in the world. How many men do you know who would take their three-year-old daughter to work with them for an entire day? We are very blessed with Heath's job. He typically doesn't go to work until early afternoon, and can get home as early as late afternoon or late late at night. Yesterday he went to work at 1:30 and returned home around 8 or so. And he took Kalyn to work with him.
Kalyn has always loved spending time with her Daddy. When she was still a baby, Heath would take her to work with him a couple days a week, and since moving to Arkansas, he takes her to work on days he knows will be short, and on days when I am really not feeling well. Kalyn calls this "working to Daddy." We asked her when she was about 18 months old if she wanted to "go to work with Daddy" and she replied, "Yes, I want to work to Daddy." She always gets so excited when we ask her if she wants to go.
Yesterday Heath asked her and I gave her a pep talk, saying that I needed her to be good and to do what Heath told her to do. See, she loves going to work with Heath, but once she gets there, often times she gets bored quickly and wants to come home. She is three after all! Well, yesterday she had a blast. They went to the deli to pick up some dinner so they could have a picnic at the softball games Heath was working. She got her favorite...mac and cheese. Heath said she ate almost a pound of it. Yuck (I am still quite ill)! She played in a sand pile with some other girls, and just had fun.
When they were on their way home, Heath called and I spoke with Kalyn. She first asked me if I felt any better (I didn't), then she started to whimper that everyone was going home. She said, "I don't want to go home. I want to watch the volleyball game!" (She gets sports mixed up. If it involves a ball, it can be volleyball, basketball, football, or baseball. They are all interchangable to her.) She was sad to leave, but when I asked her if she had a nice time, she said, "Yes!" I hope that she always remembers these special times she gets to spend with her Daddy. I know that he loves them.
My own Dad worked a lot when we were kids. I don't think it was because he really wanted to, but he was the only person who could do his job for a lot of the towns near where we lived (He is a Nurse Anesthetist--probably spelled wrong). Because he was always on call, I don't remember getting to spend a whole lot of time with him, but the times that I do remember were a lot of fun. I like remembering them. Hey, Dad--do you remember when we camped out at Berenstien Ponds (probably spelled wrong too!)? It was just the two of us. We fished, cooked RMEs, and had hot cocoa with marshmallows. We heated up the water for the cocoa in the back of the truck, and it spilled onto our sleeping bags. I had a lot of fun, and I cherish that memory. When we got home, I buried my fish in the straberry patch. I don't eat fish! I love you though.

I know what you mean about not getting enough time with Daddy...when I was a kid...it was the same. He worked graveyard shift alot...so his hours were weird. He would get home at five, eat dinner and go to bed because he had to get up and do it all over again like at 2am or so. It's good that Kaylyn likes going with her daddy...and she WILL remember those sweet times. BTW...did dad ever know you buried your fish? LOL Hope you are feeling better today...Love ya Mums
I remember the burial of the fish! I also remember my trip with Dad to the ponds. I caught a huge fish and someone knocked over the port-a-potty during the night. I had a blast! (except for the 10 minutes Dad left me to fish on my own while he found a better spot. I didn't like not being with him).
