Last night I faced a situation that strikes fear into the hearts of mothers everywhere. In one word...lice.
I was holding Kalyn, playing with her hair when I noticed something in her hair that looked quite frightening. I told Heath to come look, and he immediately started looking on the internet to find out what lice looked like. I knew already what it looked like, and immediately began formulating a plan for sterilizing my family and home from this parasite. I also began the embarassing task of formulating a list of people we have come into contact with that I would have to share this news with. I was ready to run to Walmart to buy supplies too.
I insisted that we wash Kalyn's hair to see if that helped. It did, then Heath went into the kitchen and found the real culprit...pepper. Kalyn had sprinkled pepper in her hair. I was sooooo relieved! I would freak out if my baby had lice. Yuck!
Our refridgerator and freezer have stopped working. Augh! I know that nobody needs a problem like this, but we really don't need this problem right now. Appliances are so expensive and it would be almost as expensive to have a service person come check it out...just for the diagnostic fee! It can't be helped, but it is annoying.
It snowed here! Only maybe a quarter to half an inch, but it is still exciting. Kalyn looked outside and immediately said, "I need ice skates." Why? So she can ice skate on the snow. Thanks Wonder Pets! Hopefully we can get some pictures.

Lice would be a nightmare. I've never seen them, but the thought still freaks me out.

Thank goodness it wasn't lice...but really even if it had been there's no need for embarrassment. And you day is probably coming whether you like it or not...when school age rolls around it would be an oddity indeed not to have at least one experience with it. You can be the cleanest person on earth and STILL not avoid the plague of lice. It's an ordeal...I remember when Kellie got it...her hair is REALLY thick and at that time very LONG...down to just the bend of her knees...it took us 7-8 hours with that tiny comb...we literally had to take breaks...she was about 9 or 10 I think...I swore if she ever got it again...her hair would have to be cut. I couldn't bear to cut it then though because it was so beautiful and long. Fortunately we never had to face that again with her. But, each one of the kids had it at least once. They share brushes with other people and such...teach Kaylyn to avoid using other people's brushes etc when she goes to school...it will help. Glad you were able to avoid it for now though...Love ya

If you go to Lowe's, ask if they have any non-stock fridges. Sometimes you can get it pretty cheap...and they're brand new! They've just stopped carrying that model. -clare
