Hello! We have surgery scheduled for Monday morning at 7:30. We were very lucky to get that time slot. I am currently feeling a lot better. The attack is subsiding, but I still am ready to get this thing taken out. Until I think about this...
They are taking out an organ, then sending me home 4-5 hours later. Augh!
My friend Kelly and I were talking Friday when that thought left her lips at the exact moment it entered my mind. We do that alot...we think the same way on almost everything--at the same time. It is funny really. Anyway doesn't that sound scary? In reality, removing the gall bladder is one of the most common surgeries, so it's not really that big of a deal. Things can go wrong in rare cases, but I'm not really worried about that.
I am a bit nervous because with the exception of my epidurals and getting my wisdom teeth taken out, I haven't had anesthesia since I got my tonsils out when I was five. I am not a big fan of not being in control of my body. When I got my wisdom teeth out, they had me breathing gas. When I began to get light headed I took the mask off and started breathing regular air again. That didn't fly too well with Dr. Lloyd. I just don't like that feeling of drifting away. That is why I am not a huge fan of Vicadin. I love that it takes the edge off the pain, but I don't like the spacy feeling.
We are leaving the girls in the capable hands of Heath's parents for the week. I am going to miss them dreadfully. I am already tearing up just thinking about not being able to hold them any time I want to. They will be well cared for though, and will have a blast at Mamaw & Papaw's.
Andrea is going to hate that she was out of the country for this. I think she likes being 'there' for me. She really has been so helpful to me in times of stress. I love her so much! She is a great friend and a wonderful sister. I am happy she is getting to spend quality time with Jimmy, and I think that in the greater perspective she would choose time with him over me anyway. Bummer! Really...I am thrilled that she is happy and so thankful that we have been able to have a closer relationship as adults than we ever did as children. Isn't that funny how the same person you fought tooth and nail with as a child can be one of your best friends as an adult? I love that about life.

Thank you for asking Heath to call me and let me know you were out of surgery and okay. I hope your recovery time goes quickly. 4 incisions???????
Good Luck. I had mine taken out in 2002. I actually had to go in again right after my first one. They found some stones floating down toward my Liver, so I went in, had it removed, then when I was sorta coming to, they told me I had to go in again to get some stray stones. So, that is my story. You'll be fine. :0) The healing process is quick of you move around a lot. Best to keep those muscles moving. :0)
I hope all went well with your surgery. Get better soon, and don't over do it even if you do feel you can. -Luana
Melissa I hope that by now you are feeling well. You will not believe this but I spent the night at the ER last night because I could not deal with the pain. I have just what you "had" and I'm calling the surgeon to figure out what to do. When you feel up to it, can I call you and ask you more about it? I'm a chicken :-)
I love you! Even without your gall bladder!
