I am taking the girls to Hot Springs today to see my Mom and sisters. Kalyn is of course, so excited. She loves visiting with all of our family and loves Amanda and Jessica to death. We are also taking Coca-Cola...he is feeling better today.
Valentines Day is just around the corner. It surprises a lot of people, but Heath and I do not ever really do anything for V-Day. We never have. Sometimes we get cards for each other, and the first year we dated we gave each other small gifts, but over all we don't do anything.
Last year, while talking to kids at his school, Heath was asked what he was getting for his wife. He replied, "nothing." The kids were shocked and predicted the end of his marriage. He explained that we don't really do anything, and that being a family is a gift in an of itself. I think I got a great gift last year. I got Keali, a beautiful baby girl to join my precious Kalyn. I have gifts of love every day. Whenever Heath says, "I love you," or whenever he plays with the girls, I am reminded at how much I am loved and cared for. I still like the idea of Valentine's Day. I think it is fun to set aside one day to shower love and affection, but it isn't always necessary to do it in a material manner. (Now, the day after V-Day, we always go to the store and stock up on 1/2 off candy!)
