Kalyn had another game last night. Her Daddy was able to make it (yeah!) and actually helped coach. He said at one point he almost had to leave the field because Kalyn was begging him to hold her. She didn't love being on the field yesterday. On her first 'at bat,' she hit off coach pitch, but off the T on the second round. Heath thinks she purposely missed the coach pitch the second time. Apparently she told him that she would rather use the T. When she hit the coach pitch though--that was a great hit! I whooped and hollared. (Hollard means cheered for those of you who aren't from the south!)
I've been really happy to see the support Kalyn has gotten from the whole Lamb family with her games. Her grandparents make it to every game, and so does Uncle Brad. Occasionally some more people show up too. It means a lot to me because it is so hot outside, and sunny! It's also difficult for me to chase after Keali with my growing tummy and propensity towards rapid exhaustion. Keali always manages to weasle a bag of popcorn and bubble gum out of her gradparents, and a slushy, snowcone, or M&Ms from Brad. I'll not complain too much--he brought me fries on Tuesday.
Softball is a BIG DEAL in Northeast Arkansas. We have huge softball complexes and it seems that the whole city is out there every night for various games. The Lambs were big into softball growing up, and especially later when they umpired. Brad actually hosted his own tournament for a number of years and was very successful at it. I'm happy my kids get to take part as well. One time--shortly after Heath and I were married, one of Brad's players couldn't make it to a game. I got drafted. It was a co-ed team. I told him he didn't want me playing for him. I hadn't played softball in YEARS. I was forced to anyway. Luckily, all I had to do was bat--someone else who ran much faster ran for me once I got to first. It was embarassing over all--but he has never asked me to play again! Haha!
As children Jennifer, Andrea, and I played softball. I don't remember much about it. I do remember Jennifer laughing at me once as I struck out. My solution to that? I hit her in the head with my bat. My Dad threw me out of the game for that--and he wasn't even the coach. Maybe that is better said, he took me out of the game. I felt kind of bad...but at least she wasn't hurt too bad. Sorry Jennifer!
I'm at work right now. Bored to tears. I don't like starting projects on Friday afternoon, so I am wasting time until I can leave. I don't really know what to do. Any ideas?
