Okay. Still no party pics.
We are in Day 3 of ice storm 2009. The trees are snapping left and right. The power goes out. The power comes back on. Over and over. It is cold and wet outside. But we are all okay! They are talking about all the ice melting today. Just in time for it to all freeze back up tonight when the sun goes down! Yea for us!
My university NEVER shuts down. There have been times when everything in North East Arkansas is shut down, but ASU is still up and running. Well.
Tuesday afternoon we shut down at 3 pm. Tuesday night I had an emergency meeting to discuss what we would do if power to the University went off. I was in the office until past 9 pm.
Power went off to half the university at 3:15 am. I know because I woke up as soon as it happened. I sleep with a fan on and can't sleep without that white noise.
The University was shut down all of yesterday because we still didn't have power to all of campus until afternoon. Since power coming back on, we have lost heat in one building and hot water in another. They are both back now, but it's too cold for that!
I am a bit cranky that we are open today. The out of doors are still very dangerous with falling tree branches and deadly icicles. I'm not being melodramatic. I just know a 2 foot long icicle is going to fall right on my head.
I want to be home!
