Christmas Eve and Christmas were good for us. Christmas Eve we went to Heath's parent's and opened presents.
Kalyn, holding her favorite HSM gift.
I can always count on new socks for Christmas (and I am thrilled every year to get them--I LOVE socks!), and Heath gave me a couple things I mentioned having wanted. I got an iPod dock/clock/radio for my office that I can use with my iPhone. I also got a shoe rack for my closet--I really needed that! We got a great gift basket of Coke from Tim & Shannon, Wii accessories from Matt, digital photo key chains (complete with inappropriate pictures) from Brad, and shoes from Richie & Debi. We got a cupcake mix (yummy!) from Holly and Devin, and I gave Heath a couple of Superman belt buckles. I was completely against this gift. One of the belts I got Heath.
I think themed belt buckles are cheesy and tacky, but this is what Heath wanted. Turns out he really likes the ones I picked out (yes!), and they don't look so bad on him. And...He actually said that he loved the gift I gave him!! Everyone heard it! For those of you who don't follow along, I have never given Heath a gift he has liked in over 11 years of coupledom. Finally got it!
Brad gave the girls (to share with Klarice and Luke) motorized vehicles. Kiddie four wheelers. Can I tell you how NOT happy I was with that!! I don't think they are safe, and I just know the kids will drive out into the road.
Keali insisted on riding with her legs spread eagle.
After presents, the grandparents, uncles, and Daddy took the girls outside to ride on their four wheelers. Shannon and I insisted they wear helmets, though we were almost ignored. After strapping on the helmets, I watched as my babies learned to drive the vehicles. I'm still not thrilled with them, but the girls love them. Kalyn's tops out at 1 mile per hour, and Keali's is significantly slower than that. It isn't too bad, so I am okay with them riding them so long as they have at least a half dozen adults supervising. And they have to wear helmets. And pads.
Santa came early to our house and brought the girls a beautiful bunk bed!
The Bed. Santa even left individual messages for the girls!
It was waiting for them when we went home Christmas Eve. Santa knew the girls so well!
\Kalyn had brand new High School Musical sheets on her top bunk, and Keali had Super Monkey Sheets on her bottom bed. Keali loves monkeys. All the monkeys in the world that is except for the four stuffed gorilla's Heath and I gave her for Christmas. She can't stand those four...but the rest in the world are great. She would unwrap a gorilla and throw it down in disgust!
Kalyn entering the room to see her bed. (I forgot to turn off the night-function on the camera.)
When she unwrapped her baby doll, she exclaimed, "My Baby!" It was super cute. Keali got a ton of play doh stuff and paraphernalia. Kalyn was showered in High School Musical EVERYTHING.
The girls went to bed very well in their new beds.
Until about 1:30 in the morning when Kalyn decided the top bed was just too high.
She stayed in Keali's bed the rest of the night.
Christmas was nice. Heath and the girls went to Blytheville, and I worked on a couple baby quilts I need to get completed during my vacation. I couldn't leave town, but I was happy the girls and Heath got to visit with family. Heath came down with another sinus infection--he has those ALL THE TIME. I can't stand it, but what can you do?
Heath and I wanted to focus on the true meaning of Christmas for the girls this year, but I don't think we quite made it there. We will have to plan ahead better for next year. At least each of the girls didn't get 30 gifts from us this year. Each only got 15! That's improvement!
Sometime this weekend we will head down to Hot Springs to visit my Dad's house and the people living in it. Mom is in Utah so we won't get to see her or Ted. Jennifer is in Hot Springs though so it will be nice to visit with her for a little while. I still have over a week of vacation left. It is strange to be home all day--strange but good. I have gotten to spend quality time with the girls playing and talking. I have really enjoyed it.
