We have had to concentrate all of our quality family time on the weekends since I work during the day and Heath doesn't get home from work until after the girls go to bed usually. Two weekends ago we went to the ASU Petting Zoo. Kalyn love the animals.
Last weekend we took the girls to "Grossology." Grossology is a traveling exhibit that teaches kids about the human body. The gross things like burping, gas, vomiting, and worst of all--odors. The girls LOVED the exhibit at the ASU Museum. I did not. I was doing just fine--a little woozy from the display about mucus, but okay over all. Until I reached the displaying about smells. I did not read the instructions on the display. I just dove in with my nose. BIG MISTAKE! Had I known what I was about to smell, I would not have been so eager to sniff. It was a game. You have four scents to choose from and four options for what it is. Smells cultured from your foot, mouth, armpit, and anus. The first one I smelled wasn't so bad--nothing I would want to smell on a regular basis, but it wasn't terrible. The second one I smelled turned my stomach and I had to immediately go sit down and wait for everyone else to be ready to leave. I was nauseous the rest of the weekend. Ouh! It was terrible. Luckily for me, the curator of the museum is a member of our ward and I was able to express my disgust Sunday. She agreed that it was awful and was thrilled that her office was on the first level away from the display! Yuck.
This picture is from another location in the museum. "Fossils" are buried below packing peanuts for the kids to uncover. I thought it would be funny to bury Keali. It was funny. She didn't think so though. By the way...that sign in the background says, "Please do not allow children to climb inside the dig." I swear I didn't see the sign until after I had already place my child within the dig.
Here is a picture from this week. I picked Keali and Kalyn up from Holly's house and this is how Keali looked when we got home. She had fallen off Holly's porch...if you were wondering what is wrong with her eye.
Later in the week, Heath snapped this one. I like it. Its pretty rare that both girls want me to hold them.
And now for Halloween! Kalyn is an ASU Cheerleader. She has been running around all day cheering, "Cheerleader, Cheerleader, CheeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrLeeeeederrrrrr!!!!" So cute. She is really pretty in her outfit.
Keali is "Super Girl!" When we first put her in the outfit, she was very tired and had a fit.
After our Ward Halloween Party, Keali decided that having to dress up isn't so bad...as long as you get candy for doing it! She learned how to say, "Trick or Treat" and "Scary." I took Kalyn through the 'haunted house.' 15 seconds in, Kalyn is squeezing my hand saying, "This is a horrible place Mommy!" She flat out refused to enter the room with the giant hairy spider. I had to force her through the door. Heath asked her afterwards if she had fun and she said, "no." He asked if she wanted to go again and she said, "YES!" So Heath took Keali and Kayla took Kalyn. Kayla said Kalyn told her to just hold her hands and close her eyes and she (Kalyn) would protect her. So sweet!
I went to the end of the house to be present for Keali's reaction. I heard her screaming and I went in to get her--certain that Heath was making it worse than it needed to be. I took Keali and all she could say was, "Scary!" She had fun though.
We played musical chairs as a cake walk. Kalyn is a sore looser. Really bad! When they had an adult only session, Heath battled Kayla and Missionaries to win Kalyn a cake. Kalyn was his little cheerleader and as soon as the last Missionary admitted defeat, Kalyn ran to her Daddy with her hands outstretched and hugged him so hard! There was a collective "Ahhhh!" It was wonderful to watch!
