Yesterday afternoon I got the phone call I have been dreading for the past month.  There was a snag in the sale of our house.  The woman buying the house was at the title company doing her part of the closing when she found out that her husband (soon to be ex) had to sign a form stating that he was in no way responsible for the repayment of the loan.  You wouldn't think that would be a problem would you?  Who wants to be associated with a loan repayment if they don't have to be?

Not so easy though.  Hubby went to rehab a couple days ago in a different city.  This is workable though.  Just takes a little more time.  Except wife has a restraining order against hubby and cannot have any contact with him.  So here is the order of events that has to occur:

1. Wife has to sign papers.

2. Wife has to take papers to her lawyer.

3. Wife's lawyer has to transport papers to hubby's lawyer (in a different city...and you can't fax or email).

4. Hubby's lawyer has to get papers to hubby (who is in rehab in yet another city), get hubby to sign, and find a notary to do this...in rehab.

5. Hubby's lawyer has to return signed papers to wife's lawyer who has to return papers to wife who has to return papers to the title company so that we can get our check!

I just hope that hubby doesn't decide to be a jerk and not sign.

Heath and I did our part of the signing this morning.  We dropped the girls off at the in-laws around 5:30 am.  Thank you Shannon for taking Kalyn to school!  We drove to Benton (I kept trying to fall asleep, but apparently that isn't a good idea when I am the one supposed to be driving).  We got stuck in Little Rock traffic, but it wasn't too bad.

Our part of the signing took about 20 minutes (much better than we had to buy the house), and we canceled the utilities.  The woman buying the house hadn't signed up for utilities yet!  I don't feel bad for turning them off though because she has known for a week that I was turning them off today.  It is her fault that she will be moving into a house without electricity and water (assuming that hubby signs the papers, of course).

Then we drove back up to Jonesboro, picked up Keali, and got home just in time for Heath to go to work.  Keali and I took a nap, then picked up Kalyn from school.  I don't know what Kalyn did at school today.  She won't tell me.  All she will say is that she can't talk about it right now.  Maybe I'll ask the teacher.  Kalyn really seems to be loving school.  I think she is thrilled with the fact that they feed her there.  She has always behaved in a way that would make a non-insider believe that I never feed her.  Seriously...if you have ever seen her at somebody else's house, or at a restaurant...she scarfs her food as though she hasn't eaten in a week.  I do feed her!
