Yesterday, after posting that picture of Keali brushing her teeth, Heath found the toothbrush outside...having been chewed to smithereens by the dogs. Keali has a problem with tossing things to the dogs to eat. Paper, toys, shoes, toothbrushes! So we had to buy her a new one. While at the store we also bought some Oreos! Some of you know that I lived on Oreos when I was pregnant with Kalyn. Well--to the best of my knowledge, yesterday was Keali's first encounter with the yummy black and white sandwich cookie. It wore her out. Heath was holding her and asked me what she was doing. She was snoozing with a cookie on her lap!

Last night, Heath and I were watching a DVRd "Hells Kitchen" when one of the contestants made a lobster and split pea soup. I have been craving split pea soup for a few days, and Heath said he wanted some too. In our 6 1/2 years of marriage, we have never made split pea soup. I knew that my Dad made a really good one so I called him for the recipe. He didn't have it! It is all in his head so he told me how to make it over the phone. It turned out PERFECTLY!! So often things that I make from my childhood never turn out as good as I remember my parents making, but the pea soup did. It was sooooo yummy. Kalyn and Keali liked it too. Heath had three bowls of it. Next time we will have to double the recipe. For about an hour afterwards we kept saying how good the soup was. It really was perfect! I am actually tempted to make it again today because it was so easy and tasted so good.
Heath and I have been contemplating a bunk bed for Kalyn for a little while now. She is getting a bit big for the toddler bed so it is time to upgrade. We decided on a bunk bed because we hope to have another baby at some point (not pregnant now!) and the bedrooms in our house, though they could handle having two twin beds in them, would do better with space if we had bunk beds. Kalyn is really excited about the idea. We looked around yesterday and she stated that bunk beds "are my very favorite kind of bed...they are AWESOME!" 'Awesome' is her new favorite word. I don't know how quickly we will get one, but I think we have finally settled on where we will get it. One thing is for sure--it will be an "awesome" day when we get it and we will be Kalyns "very own favorite Mommy and Daddy" when we get it for her!
