Well. If this blog had sound, you would be putting your hands over your ears right now. I am screaming in my head! First, we were promised 6-10 inches of accumulated snow. We are lucky if we have half an inch. The ground was just too wet to allow the snow to stick right away. I am not a big fan of snow, but I really wanted my kids to get to play in it. This was supposed to be the most snow I have seen in about 17 years! Oh well.
Secondly, Heath and I decided if we were snowed in today, we may as well do our taxes. So we did. It only took about 4 hours to do, but I hate that sort of thing. This year we used the H&R Block TaxCut software and I am pretty sure we will go with that again next year too. It was really easy to work with, and I was impressed.
Thirdly, Kalyn is so naughty! She continues to find pens/pencils/crayons/markers (from where, I really do not know) and draw on things she is not supposed to. Today already she has used a marker to draw on her tv, herself, and her Rugrats DVD. We also discovered that she has carved scratches into our brand new 42 inch flat screen television. Thats right...scratch-es. As in multiple. I don't know when she finds the time or how she finds the tools. I see a writing utensil, I pick it up and put it someplace very high. I am telling you--she has a stash hidden somewhere only 3 year olds can find. On top of her artistic endeavors today, she poured an entire bottle of bath-paint on her sister. And no...her sister was not in the bathtub at the time. Augh!
Other than my frustrations, things are great. I get Heath home with us all day because school was cancelled, and I live in a nice warm house out of the wind and cold! I can pad around the house in sweats with my hair unbrushed (though clean). I am so happy about getting the taxes done, I am trying to think of a way to get Heath to take us out to eat. The roads aren't bad.
For those of you who have never lived in a place where snow is rare, let me explain something to you. When it snows/ices in Arkansas...people FREAK out. There is a mad dash for the store where people load up on the essentials because they feel like the world is ending. We went to the store last night to get out of the house and to pick up some more milk for Keali. I decided to do a bit of light food shopping too. I got the very last loafs of bread (of the type we buy, though most of the other bread was gone too), the last bag of hot dog buns, and the very last boxes of mac and cheese. Most of the meats were gone, as were the cheeses, and dairy products. Eggs were sparse too. It is funny really. We weren't in panic mode (since we had plenty of food storage at home), and it was fun to watch people pushing their carts frantically in search of food staples. Poor poor people.

when it rains here, that's when people freak out. they can drive in 30 mph winds, but add a little rain, and it's disastrous! btw...i miss the snow :(

Melissa...it sounds like Kaylyn needs to experience the artistry of a parental hand, right on the canvas of her behind! That kind of destruction isn't art. It's VANDALISM! I know you are going to probably flinch when you read my post...as you probably will think my assessment is too harsh and over reactive...BUT...I do have a lot of experience raising kids and one thing I did decide when raising them is that I would not tolerate my children to disrespect their things, their home and certainly not MY things. If they do it at your house without appropriate correction, they will very likely do at at someone else's house and the homeowners may not be very understanding about it. That's just like you know I have "issues" about children playing with remotes, TV buttons, phones etc...they are NOT toys nor are they even appropriate for children to use at this age.

OK, Melissa...I've done the "grandma" lecture...LOL..but it does just really does get to me when I see children do things like that. It does NOT "stifle" their development and creativity for them to learn disipline and self-control...I am so sorry for the damage to your new TV...that has got to be maddening...Bryan never grew out of his...I still tell him to this day when he has a remote or something in his hand..."give it to me...you'll destroy it"...LOL because somehow he does...when he lived here...he somehow would manage to "lose" the back of the remote that holds the batteries and THEN he would hold the remote and "peel" the plastic that covers the batteries...off! LOL. He even peeled the glass beads off of one of my favorite Chirstmas candles I had on a table close to where he sat on the couch while he was watching TV! I got so mad at him! Now when he comes home...I hide stuff from him so he won't be tempted...LOL it's funny but then again not because he's in college!

And I'm sorry we didn't get more snow but at least we did get to watch it fall for a while. I too am disappointed that we didn't get what they said we would...but oh well...there's always next year. Now we can turn our attention to planting and spring...Love yous guys...

We've said it before, but our girls really were cut out of the same mold. I think I've almost gotten all of the writing utensils put away, but then I forget one day and leave one out...
