Super Tuesday. We left the house this morning to go vote. Our site is about 1/16 of a mile from the house so we walked. All the way Kalyn kept saying that we had to find the ocean so we could boat. We exhaustively tried to get her to understand that we were 'voting' not 'boating.' We voted and as we were leaving Kalyn sadly cried out, "But where is the boat?" I guess we just couldn't get thru to her. Luckily one of our neighbors had a boat in the driveway so I showed it to her and our trip wasn't a total loss.
The weather here is awful. You may think that 71 degrees is great, but here in Arkansas, 71 degrees in February is not great. It is hot and humid and it is a tornado waiting to happen. I have a headache from the pressure in the air, and I hope that we just have a good thunderstorm and get it over with. I actually dreamt about tornados last night so I hope that wasn't a sign of things to come.
I have been in dozens of tornado sirens...that just means that a tornado is somewhere close (within 15 miles or so). That is a bit frightening, but not too bad. I actually saw a tornado come down from the sky once. That was terrifying. I was in grad school, and one of my classes was in the conference room of the library (on the 8th floor) There were windows surrounding the room and while listening to Dr. Rick, I was watching the clouds in the distance. One particular cloud started to change shape and funneled down to the ground. I turned to the guy next to me who was watching too and asked if that was what I thought it was. He said yes and panic grabbed at me. Now, we were in no danger...the tornado was actually about 3 miles away or so and was not moving towards us, but I was terrified. This brings me to an interesting characteristic I have. Had I had the most authority in that room, I would have been fine. I would have calmed everyone down and escorted them to a lower level for safety. I have done that too...dozens of times as a Hall Director and Area Coordinator. I don't panic when I am in charge. When I am not in charge though? I become a spastic mess. Weird, huh?

That's funny...I'm just the opposite almost. I'm the calm one unless I'm in charge. Then I totally freak. Just as Elizabeth about the time we missed our plane in Chicago coming back from NY. Poor girl had to step in and be the adult in that situation.
