Wow. President Hinkley has passed away. For those of you readers who may not know who he is, Gordon B. Hinkley was the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and a Prophet. He was the sweetest, funniest person, and was unable to speak to a group of people without professing his absolute love and devotion to them, and to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He was a fantastic leader and wonderful speaker.
I had the opportunity to see him in person twice in my life. The first was at the dedication of the Nauvoo, IL Temple. Heath and I were among the few members of The Church lucky enough to have gotten tickets to be inside the Temple during the dedication. We got to see our beloved Prophet at the top of the stairs of the Temple. The second was when he came to Memphis to speak to the Saints only a few years ago. I remember him saying that he had been sitting in his office in Salt Lake, wondering where he should go to speak to members of The Church. Then it hit him. He had never been to Memphis, TN, so that was where he was going to go. He said that we could imagine his surprise then when he discovered that the building he was actually standing in speaking to us wasn't in Tennessee at all--it was in Mississippi! (If you have never been to Memphis, you may not know that it is actually so big with it's suburbs and everything that it is in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.) He was a wonderful man. I will miss hearing him and seeing him in the future.

I only had the fortune of seeing him in person once, but he was simply adorable. He was one of very few who commanded respect with his very presence.
