Weekend Update

Busy weekend. I woke up Saturday and decided I could not live with the state of my front yard any more. So I got up, put on some shoes and got the leaf blower. It took me about two hours to blow the leaves in my front yard into three piles. Three HUGE piles. Then I started sucking them up with the mulching attachment on the blower. Heath brought the girls outside so we could take pictures with them in the leaves. They are in one of the three leaf piles. My front yard isn't that big, so you can imagine how it must have looked with those leaves all over it.

After the pictures Heath decided to help me clean up the piles. He took the lawn mower and began mulching the leaves himself. What I had been working at for over two hours took him about thirty minutes to finish. Why! He always does things in a more practical manner than I do. Why can't I see these things? What is wrong with me?

At any rate, he cut the cleanup time in more than half. I am not really complaining. The job got done much quicker and more efficiently. The saddest part? In a couple days the yard will look the same again because not all the leaves have fallen yet.

The girls were driving both of us crazy Saturday. I don't really remember what else we did. Maybe I blocked it out. They were both pretty difficult. I do know that we began moving everything around in the house. The computer is in a new location...so is the piano. We are opening up our office for food storage and our food storage room for regular storage. It will be much better when we are done.

We went to church yesterday (the girls were very well behaved) and I finally found my primary songbook that has been missing for weeks. It is hard to practice for primary when you don't have a primary songbook. Apparently I had left it somewhere in the church and some kind soul took it to the lost and found. It still had all the paper I had shoved into it too! Then I was given a piece of music by the Relief Society president and asked to play it for the organization when they sing in Sacrament Meeting next month. It is a beautiful piece, and I can't wait to master it.

I like playing the piano, but I hate when people sing while I play. It takes away my concentration and playing correctly gets difficult. That is why I hid my playing skills from the church for so many years. If they don't know you can play, they can't give you a calling to play.

When we moved to Benton a year and a half ago, my secret was safely intact. Then there was a joint meeting and the Bishop asked for a show of hands of who could play the piano. I did not raise my hand. But Heath did and kindly shared my secret with the world. By the end of the day I had a calling to play in the primary. I don't really mind so much...at least I have a 35 minute break between second and third hour to relax. And I do love hearing the children sing. They are so sweet.

Oh...while rearranging Keali's room, Heath discovered that Keali is a baby beaver. She has been gnawing on her crib and we just discovered it. Her teeth are sharp. And watch out...she really does bite.

Holy goodness! I can't believe Keali is eating her crib! I wonder if she thinks that she will eventually chew right through it and be free...That is so cute. And also scary. Where is the wood going? Is she digesting it? Have you found any of it? GROSS! HA! How long will you guys be at Dad and Beverley's on Thursday? Jimmy and I won't be there 'till early evening. Let me know!
