Jennifer's Blog

Jennifer's blog inspired my topic today. Mugs. Jennifer says she loves mugs. I wonder if it is a twin thing that I love them too?
A few years ago I had a lovely collection of mugs. It was somewhat small, but I didn't really have room for too many. Well, one night...in the middle of the night I heard a horrible crashing sound. My husband and I jumped out of bed and ran to the living room. From there I looked into my kitchen and saw something I hope to never see again. ALL of the cabinets had fallen off the wall and broken ALL of my glass dishes, glasses, and sadly, ALL of my mugs. Since we lived on a college campus, the college paid for the replacement of our dishes, but I was too upset to buy any mugs.
Fast forward 2 1/2 years I still only had the mugs that came in the box with the rest of my new dishes. Heath and I were at Tuesday Mornings and I saw a mug that I fell in love with. It was a bit pricy for a mug, but it was my birthday soon so Heath bought it for me. He really is so sweet.
A few days later I decided I needed some cocoa, so I stuck the mug in the microwave with some water and pressed the button. I then pulled the mug out of the microwave and about 1.5 seconds later realized that I should never have put it in the microwave. I dropped my beautiful mug (it had given three of my fingers a horrible burn). It shattered and I burst into tears. Granted, I was pregnant at the time, and had little control over my emotions, but I was really upset.
Heath came in to find out what the comotion was, and started laughing over my outburst. Not the right thing to do. I got more upset. He pulled me into a hug and said we would get another mug the next morning. I refused. I was too upset. I cried for the rest of the night (it was kind of awkward because my bro-in-law and his wife came in). It was about 10 months later when I finally consented to another mug. This one is nice too, but I still miss my beautiful mug.
So...to this day, my mug collection (not including the bland ones that match my dishes) consists of one. Maybe one day it will grow. Heath just doesn't see the need for more mugs than I can actually use! He and Carrie would probably get along!

It does sound like they would get along quite well. I'm sorry about your mug! This last move that I made ended up breaking about 15 of my mugs. The only special one that broke was a Harry Potter mug that I got for my 22nd birthday from a friend...The rest I could live without. It was a sad, sad day though.
