This Is New

This is a new thing for me. I have never really blogged before, but it seems like it could be fun, and an easy way to keep loved ones informed on my family. This past weekend was a lot to handle in just two days. Friday night Heath had a football game and didn't return home until almost midnight. That was fine, but when he got home we discovered that our dogs were missing. See, the dogs don't like me much (probably because I don't like them much) and so I wasn't surprised when they wouldn't come into the house when I called them at about 11 p.m.
When Heath got home, I told him his dogs were still outside and when they didn't respond to him, he went to the back to check and found a huge hole had been dug under the fence. The dogs had escaped...again.
I stayed home with the girls while Heath scoured the neighborhood. After over an hour of searching he came home to go to bed. We had both been up since early morning and both had early appointments Saturday morning. After a sleepless night (I woke up everytime I heard something remotely animalistic sounding) we got up. I immediately looked outside and saw a neighbor coming to the front door. Heath had been up since 5 a.m. searching. The neighbor said she had seen the dogs at the other end of our street. Heath hopped in the car and drove away. He returned shortly with the naughty puppies and told me they had been perusing a garage sale. Heath headed to the morning clinic with Kalyn, and I headed to a Primary leadership meeting with Keali.
The meeting was very uplifting and mainly focused on our need as leaders to stress the scriptures while teaching our young children. Too often we sort of dumb down our church lessons to make them easier for the kids to understand. When we do this though, we are really insulting their intellegence. Kids are sponges and are capable of understanding a lot more than we give them credit for. So we should include actual scripture reading in our lessons. This really doesn't apply to me right now as far as church goes because I am only the pianist and don't actually teach, but it is a good lesson for home and for the future. I also enjoyed just being with other adults and having conversation with more than just a two year old and 7 month old. It was a good break.
I returned home and immediately began creating a stopper for the huge hole in my backyard. That created I waited for Heath and Kalyn to come home. Then I took a nap. A good one!!
Sunday was our Primary presentation in Sacrament Meeting. It was so nice! I love hearing the kids singing.
Now it is Monday and we have already taken the dogs to the vet for their Rabies booster and we had them emplanted with a microchip to help with finding them the next time they run away. Naughty Bernie and Krypto!
