I love my family. I love watching my children interact with one another. Lately, Kalyn has been running at Keali and surprising her when they play. Keali just loves it and giggles and screams laughing. I love watching how Keali's eyes have changed the way they look at Kalyn. At first there was nothing short of terror in those baby blues whenever Kalyn was near Keali. She would look at me as if to say "protect me mommy." I don't really blame her, Kalyn was pretty aggressive when it came to a newborn. Then her eyes turned to watch everything Kalyn did. I think this was at first an attempt to chronicle Kalyn's movements in an effort to prepare herself for attack, but it quickly changed to a look that said "I want to be just like you." Now whenever Keali looks at her big sister it is with sheer love and happiness to be with her. I LOVE THAT!! Kalyn on her part is never hesitant to tell Keali that she loves her. At night she tells Keali to have "Sweet Dreams Sweetie!" And she often tells other people about her "stister."
There have been moments of jealousy on both sides, and I know that there will be arguements in the future, but I hope my daughters will form a lifelong bond of love and friendship. I am close friends now with a sister that I never thought I would like growing up. I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything, and I wish that I could go back in time and work harder on our relationship as children.
Keali's new favorite place to rest her crawling knees is right in front of Krypto and Bernie's pin. She just sits there and watches them. The funny part is that if the dogs do so much as sneeze, Keali will dissolve into tears and insist on being rescued.
Kalyn is convinced that winter is here for the long haul (it is currently 73 degrees outside) and insists on being clothed warmly and won't think of going outside without "a light jacket," unless of course we are going to swim in her new pool from Papa and Mama. She is so funny.
