Don't Listen To Everything

You can't always believe what a two year old tells you. My 2-year old Kalyn tells everyone...and I mean EVERYONE that "my mommy is going to the hospital to have a baby." This just isn't true! I think I have finally figured it out though. Kalyn wants a baby brother. She tells Heath and I this just about every day. Last time mommy went to the hospital, she came back with a baby. So, all mommy needs to do is go to the hospital to get a baby brother. It is really kind of cute, but at the same time, I am tired of telling people that I am not having a baby. Seriously--I have lost count of the number of people I have had to tell I'm not pregnant.
We had a fun weekend. Friday night Heath was at a football game at Lake Hamilton. The girls and I went to the Lakeside game to watch Elizabeth and Amanda march at halftime. When we got there the place was packed. We sat down and I gave Keali to Jessica. Within five seconds, Keali was crying. She couldn't see me anymore and it was very loud. So for the rest of the time we were there I had to hold her because it was too scary. On the other hand, Kalyn got a complete stranger to hold her for about 20 minutes. The Kalyn crawled into this girls lap. I was a bit concerned, but guessed that the girl was friends with my sisters. But after talking with her, I found out that she knew Jessica, but they weren't really friends. Kalyn has no problem with strangers. As a mother, that is terrifying.
Saturday we went to Kids Fair in Little Rock with Heath's parents. We had fun, but it was also frustrating. Dora the Explorer was there. In person. She was scheduled to appear from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The catch was she would only be out for twenty minutes then she would have to take a 20 minute break. So for the 3 hours she was scheduled to be there, she was actually only there for an hour and a half. And every child in Little Rock and the surrounding areas wanted to see her. We stood in a hot sweaty line with two tired and agitated children for over an hour. We finally realized there was no way we would get to see her so Heath took Kalyn closer to the front so that she could look at Dora from afar. She was so excited and told her daddy that she wanted to hug Dora. It broke our hearts. I was angry! A fight broke out between parents while we were in line. The announcer was screaming for security and reminding everyone that there were children there. Yeah there were children there! Children who wouldn't get to see a favorite character because of the fair's poor planning. Augh!!

Kalyn about to kiss a cute pig!

On the up side, Kalyn got to spend time with her beloved mama and papa. After the fair we went to Olive Garden. When we got there Kalyn had something to tell me. She said:
"I know! I will go with mama and papa. They have their car, so they have Klarice's seat. So I can ride in Klarice's seat, so I can go home with mama and papa. Okay?" I sort of avoided the question because I didn't want her freaking out in the middle of the restaurant. On the way out Kalyn again began rationalizing why she should go home with her grandparents. "Daddy has to go to work and papa has to go to work, so I will go with mama. Okay?" I hate to tell her no because she gets so heartbroken, but she doesn't realize how much I miss her when she is gone. Last time Richie and Debi took the girls to Jonesboro, I was crying before they had even turned off of our street. I love my girls and want to be with them. They get to spend good time with their grandparents, but I didn't have kids so that I could constantly pawn them off on someone else. I enjoy being with them. That said, my girls have fabulous grandparents all around and I am so thankful for all of them. I am so pleased too that my children love all of their grandparents and enjoy being with them.
